Malaysian Journal of Computing (MJoC)

Aims & Scope

Aims: MJoC publishes original, high-quality research that advances the theory, methods and applications of computing and mathematical sciences, along with work that sits at the interface between the two. We welcome contributions ranging from foundational theoretical results through to applied and computational studies that solve real-world problems.

Types of Contribution

We accept original research articles, review papers, short communications and, occasionally, invited perspectives on emerging topics that bridge the two disciplines.

Mathematical Sciences

  • Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Modelling:
    Differential equations, mathematical modelling of physical, biological and engineering systems, and applied analysis.
  • Statistics, Probability, Data Analytics:
    Statistical theory and methods, probability theory, data analytics, and quantitative modelling, including affective and emotional response modelling, Kansei Engineering, and quantitative methods for design and user experience research.
  • Computational Mathematics and Numerical Methods:
    Numerical analysis, mathematical software, scientific computing, and computational approaches to solving mathematical problems.
  • Operations Research, Decision Science, and Optimisation:
    Optimisation theory, mathematical decision making, multi-criteria decision making, and preference modelling, including for design and human-centred systems.
  • Financial and Actuarial Mathematics:
    Mathematical finance, risk modelling, actuarial science, and quantitative methods for financial and insurance applications.

    Data science and technology, big data analytics, information retrieval, Decision Support System (DSS), and knowledge management technology.
  • Computer Systems, Networks & Infrastructure:

    Cybersecurity, cryptography, network and systems security, digital forensics, and IT ethics.

    Human-computer interaction, AR/ VR/ XR/ MR, computer graphics, vision and scientific visualisation, assistive technology, gamification, applied ontologies, and affective and emotion-driven computing, including Kansei Engineering, emotional UX and emotion-centred design methodologies.
  • Computing in Organisations & Society:
    Enterprise and information systems, IT strategic management, e-government, service management, microsourcing, social informatics, and computing education.
