Malaysian Journal of Computing (MJoC)
About This Journal
The Malaysian Journal of Computing (MJoC) (e-ISSN: 2600-8238) is an open on-line peer-reviewed international journal managed by the Faculty of Computer & Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and published by UiTM Press. MJoC provides a platform for the dissemination of original research across the broad spectrum of computing.
Audience
MJoC is aimed at researchers, academics and practitioners working in mathematics, computer science, data science, engineering and related quantitative fields, as well as those working on interdisciplinary problems that require both mathematical rigour and computational insight.
What Makes MJoC Unique
MJoC is distinguished by a genuine, not nominal, interdisciplinary identity. Rather than treating computing and mathematics as separate tracks with one subordinate to the other, the journal's scope is built around themes that require both computational and mathematical reasoning to address properly. A particular emphasis is placed on the mathematical and computational modelling of human experience, including affective computing, Kansei Engineering, and emotion-driven design, an area currently under-represented in both mainstream computing and mainstream mathematics journals. This combination of genuine dual-discipline depth and a defined human-centred specialism gives MJoC a distinct, defensible position within the existing landscape of computing and mathematical sciences journals.
Revenue Model & Financial Independence
The Malaysian Journal of Computing (MJoC) is fully sustained through institutional funding provided by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Operating as a platinum open-access publication, MJoC levies minimal article processing charges (APCs), submission fees, or publication costs on authors. Furthermore, the journal derives no income from subscriptions, commercial advertising, or print reprints. Editorial governance remains strictly independent; all publication decisions are driven exclusively by peer review and academic merit, completely isolated from financial or commercial factors.
Copyright & Licensing
MJoC adheres to the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License, which allows users to share, adapt, and redistribute content responsibly while giving due credit to the original authors.
Publication Schedule
2 issues per year (April and October).
(Previously June and December until June 2020).
Review Process
The journal uses a double-blind peer review process, which means both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from each other throughout the review process. The average duration of the review process is 2-4 months.
Marketing & Outreach Standards
All direct marketing initiatives (such as calls for papers) are conducted in accordance with rigorous ethical standards. MJoC utilizes official, verified communication channels to deliver accurate, non-intrusive, and transparent announcements. Promotional efforts operate independently of editorial decision-making and do not affect the journal's publication criteria.
Advertising Policy
MJoC maintains a strict no-advertising policy and does not accept corporate sponsorships. In the event that advertising practices are adopted in the future, all promotional material will be kept explicitly distinct from academic content and will exert zero influence over peer-review outcomes or editorial discretion.
